Five Hacks To Create Space In Your Home

Accommodation in Accra and Ghana as a whole, is quite limiting with most options available having a small area.

This often poses the challenge of how to make the most of the space and this is why Arnold Adrian Sarpong, one of our designers decided to share this five secrets on creating more room in your home.

1. Reduce Clutter

This is quite an obvious hack but people find it very difficult to do as we are attached to a lot of items out of sentimental value. To help you achieve this, talk to any interior designer or decorator to help you out with storage options in order to cut out clutter in your space.

2. Utilise floor to ceiling curtains

One of my favorite small room decor ideas is creating the illusion of space using floor to ceiling curtains. It’s modern and creates the illusion of a large space. Choosing the right colour also helps with this illusion.

3. Let the sunlight in.

Open up the windows and let the natural light in. Allow the African Sun to brighten up your space during the day and also eliminate any stuffy odour that may persist in your room. This is also a smart way to cut down on electricity costs.

4. Use mirrors to create the illusion of space.

Mirrors are also highly effective in creating the illusion of space. This is ideal for bedrooms and living areas, a mirrored wall will visually double the space. This one does the job in style, its high position keeping the effect subtle and the antiqued surface looking elegant.

5. White walls do the trick.

All white is a fail-safe space enhancer, but there are so many ways to do it. Here soft neutrals add just the right amount of warmth, while the minimal wall decorations draw the eye to the window and the view beyond. The neat built-in wall unit keeps clutter tucked out of sight behind slick drawer fronts, creating a serene mood.
